Gwangju has officially launched the AI Semiconductor Convergence Alliance, indicating its ambition to become South Korea’s central hub for AI semiconductor innovation. The kickoff ceremony, held on October 1 at the Gwangju 3D Convergence Commercialization Support Center, brought together around 60 key figures, including fabless companies, large-scale demand firms in sectors like automotive and robotics, and leading research institutions such as Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) and Artificial Intelligence Industry Convergence Alliance (AICA). This alliance aims to strengthen cooperation across the semiconductor value chain—from design and development to commercialization—by linking industry, academia, research, and government bodies.
