MOU on high tech supporting industry between SHTP and Intel
On November 3, 2010, SHTP and Intel Products Vietnam signed off a memorandum of understanding on high tech supporting industries. The MOU signing took place Intel 3rd Suppliers Day at Intel’s brand new campus at the Saigon Hi-Tech Park.
The memorandum of understanding highlights SHTP strong effort to enhance the efficiency of Intel project in Vietnam and to further promote the investment environment at the Saigon Hi-Tech Park. Two sides are committed to enable the development of high tech supporting industries at Saigon Hi-Tech Park with an emphasis on semiconductor industry. Intel Products Vietnam commits (1) to share detailed information pertaining products and services needed to operate in Vietnam and (2) contribute information, data, and news SHTP portal on high tech supporting industries at www.shtp.hochiminh.gov.vn and (3) partner with SHTP to run on a yearly basis the activities to promote the capabilities of the local supplier such educational workshop on suppliers qualification criteria, factory visits to advise on technology and operational process and (4) assist SHTP in establishing a quality test center in Hochiminh City in the next 3 years to assess the local suppliers’ products and services potentially capable of becoming Intel’s suppliers.

In return, SHTP agrees to support Intel’s existing suppliers and their plan to establish presence in Saigon Hi-Tech Park to support Intel Vietnam’s operations and exercise all efforts to gain supports from the relevant central government agencies, HCMC government and strongly encourage its partners and other tenants to join hand to enable the development of high tech supporting industries at Saigon Hi-Tech Park.
Also on this occasion, 10 local companies that are potentially capable of becoming Intel’s suppliers were invited to the Suppliers’ Day. These local companies were selected from SHTP’s portal on high tech suppliers database which was made available online in 2009 to help promote the local industry.
